My Name is Lou Borella

As a video editor and graphic animator for the past 20 years, photography seemed to be the next logical step. I started this still image journey in 2010 and was quickly addicted.

I realized early on that a photographer has the ability to invoke immediate reactions.  Some people smile.  Some people cry.  Some people run.  Some people get silly.  Some people get angry. For me, these reactions are what make photography so gratifying. These reactions are permanently captured in the photograph.

Photographs have the ability to allow people to relive an exact moment in time.  Sights, sounds, smells, emotions and reactions are all involuntarily recalled when looking at a photograph. This powerful ability is always on my mind during a shoot.  I want the power of the moment to be just as strong while looking at the picture as it was when the picture was captured.

I’ve found that this is a very hard standard to live up to but if I can get half-way there I think there will be some very happy people looking at themselves in my photos for years to come.

Thanks for looking.  Please let me know your reactions!
